Update on the Forests Worth Knowing –
Atlantic Teachers’ Tour
We hope that you and your family have been keeping safe and healthy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The changes that have resulted on both a personal level as well as globally, is unprecedented and overwhelming.
Members of the Forests Worth Knowing – Atlantic Teachers’ Tour Partnership continue to monitor the situation in across the provinces and the various phased restrictions that have been guided by the recommendations of provincial health authorities as we move towards adapting to a new normalcy. In consideration of the current timelines, the economic impact and the level of uncertainty that remains across the Atlantic provinces, the partnership has decided to postpone the Atlantic Teachers’ Tour until August 2021.
It saddens us to make this unfortunate decision to postpone this summer’s program, however, we are confident that it is the right one -made in the best interest to protect the health and safety of our participants, speakers, sponsors and organizing committee.
In light of the decision to postpone the tour, the organizing committee members of the partnership are determined and dedicated to providing alternative experiential opportunities to share all of the incredible accomplishments and innovations within the Forest Sector. We are taking this time to enhance the Forests’ Worth Knowing program by developing content and designing new ways to provide you with the multitude of resources that we have available to best serve you as a professional educator and help meet the required outcomes in your classrooms. Plans to increase resource content available on the website and social media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, will focus on video presentations by subject matter experts, inquiry-based classroom activities, live video of forestry and mill operations, fact sheets, forestry careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), and much more.
Over the next few weeks, we encourage you to share your thoughts and suggestions on how we can work together to provide valuable distance learning opportunities and look at ways to integrate the many resources into the classroom.
Please feel free to reach out via email or give me a call at 902 899-6420.
Thanks again for your interest in the Forests Worth Knowing – Atlantic Teachers’ Tour program.
Look forward to hearing from you.
